Liberal Democrat candidate Paul Valentine saw a significant boost to the party's vote in the recent St Ambrose Ward by-election for South Ribble council, which bodes well for the party's future in the seat.

Speaking after the election, Paul thanked voters and promised that his local campaigning would continue. "There's still a lot to do in St Ambrose Ward"' said Paul. "I'll carry on campaigning and supporting residents, particularly on issues like traffic".

Elsewhere in South Ribble, Lib Dem county councillor David Howarth held his Penwortham seat with a huge majority.
